Making Your Home Child-Centric During the Pandemic

The pandemic has necessitated many things that were otherwise considered less important in Indian households. One such thing is allowing a certain degree of privacy to your kids. In the wake of another wave of Covid-19, kids have to stay home again. The regular everyday activities such as attending school, interacting with friends, and playing outside have become difficult for kids. To cope with this and give them a better environment to grow and learn in, it becomes necessary for every parent to make their homes child-centric.

This blog discusses some of the measures you can take to make life for your child easier and more fun during the pandemic.

Space

Your home should have a separate room or a corner dedicated to your child’s studies. Setting up a desk with a chair for their home school will enable them to maintain a disciplined school routine. Make sure that this space is noise and disturbance-free so that your child is free from distractions and disturbance while studying.

Routine

Encourage your child to follow a routine. Fix hours for study, leisure, and play so that your kid doesn’t slack or develop lazy habits. During lockdowns, when every day feels the same, having a routine can help keep your child busy for good.

Engage

The most important thing you can do for your child during this hard time is to be there for them. Interact with them and spend a good time with them. If your neighborhood is safe enough, take them out to play for a while every other day.

Recreation

Even if your child doesn’t get to play outside with friends, you can set up an online meet with their friends and engage them in indoor games. Apart from sports and games, you can also introduce them to other recreational activities such as music, art, etc.
