NEW DELHI: It will not only be Delhi’s latest 18-hole golf course, but the upcoming facility in Dwarka sub-city is also
touted to be the longest in the country with a length of 7,366 yards. The golf course is being developed by Delhi
Development Authority and will have a sprawling club house featuring state-of-the-art amenities.
“The development of the golf course at Sector 24, Dwarka, is in progress and is scheduled to be completed by December this year,” a DDA official said on Wednesday. The club house is likely to come up by 2023. The project area spans nearly 158acres, including 8.7 acres where the club house will come up. It will cost Rs 45.5 crore. According to DDA, 26% of the work has been completed.
The 72-par golf course has a proposed length of 7,366 yards or over 6.7km. The Dwarka course will have four 5-par holes. The 18th hole will be the longest at 712 yards or 651 metres. There will be three water bodies, including an existing storm water drain that has been incorporated into the layout. The club house is proposed to have amenities like steam, sauna and massage rooms, gymnasium, restaurants, bar, coffee shop, deli, pro shop, childcare and play area, doctor’s room, conference hall and a multipurpose hall. A swimming pool with a width of 24 metres and length of 42 metres is also planned with a smaller kids pool next to it. Near the club house, DDA also proposes to build a golfing academy and the space for academy building has been ear marked in the master plan for the project. There will also be a two-level, open-to-sky driving range next to the clubhouse, with a 6-hole, 3-par course. The driving range building will have a separate dining area and snack counters, fitness centre, audio-visual room and a lounge, among other facilities. While entering the golf course, visitors will be greeted by a golf ball sculpture set amid a water feature. Apart from a parking area big enough to accommodate around 190 cars, there will be a separate parking area for 100 golf carts. There will also be charging bays for electric golf carts and a caddy hut next to it. Like other sports facilities created by DDA in the last decade, there will be no lifetime membership offered at the Dwarka golf course. Only pay and play facilities will be allowed, the DDA official disclosed. However, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly membership might be introduced, he added. In its budget for the 2022-23 financial year, DDA has allocated Rs 546 crore for the construction of new sports facilities. These include the Dwarka golf course and new sports complexes in Dwarka and Rohini.
